Congrats to Team Quantum for winning the TP52 Medcup. Must be a rough line of work! That said here’s a pretty cool look at a headcam shot of an entire race day and how things work on the TP52. (via sailing anarchy)
Ow. Ow Ow Ow. How do you pay someone to drive your boat and have them do that? Some pain and broken Carbon Fiber in the always exciting Audi MedCup. Click the “Crash A1 vs. Bribon” video if the embed doesn’t go directly there. Or… if the embed sucks (like it apparently does) then just click below and find the video.
VIDEO REMOVED BECAUSE IT AUTO-PLAYED.
Note: How do you not have embed links directly to videos on your site?!

At a certain point, it doesn’t really make a difference, does it? Torn 100,000 Euro Spinnaker? Meh, merely cost of doing business. How does one make such money, and how does one not donate some of it to the poor in exchange for 10 feet off your carbon fiber monohull? I try not to ask these questions. Man these things look sexy.

If I’ve been a bit scarce these past few days it’s because I’ve been out of town and then preparing to sail in the 2010 Newport - Bermuda race. The “Thrash to the Onion Patch” is 635 miles of racing from Newport, RI to St. George’s Light in Bermuda.
If you’d like to follow me down there, starting Friday at 1300 the race begins and you can watch live video of the start and track our boat via GPS all the way down. I will be sailing on Kalevela II. All the links are at http://bermudarace.com. Competitors include the 100’ Speedboat, Titan XV, Rambler, and others that look to break the course record. Should be an awesome run - I just hope the wind holds out.
Thanks for your well wishes and hope to post from the finish line!
