Holy cow this is the new Tech Dinghy?!! I have to go back to school. While I am heavily endeared to the lumbering fiberglass beast from my college racing days, this thing looks almost (dare I say it)…sexy! Nice work to Fran and the crew - what a great way to celebrate 85 years. (http://sailing.mit.edu)
I’m looking to get back to my Dinghy roots this year, and what better way than with a Laser, but I don’t have 5 grand to spend on a new one like this. There are hundreds behind garages across the country going unused, so I’m asking you all if you might know where I can find one in half-decent shape with OK spars for a good deal. Interested in your thoughts. Have a deal for me?

Incredible racing, from incredible athletes - hard work, fast speeds, and extremely technical sailing to get it right. This is exactly what top-flight sailing should be. Great to see and I can’t wait for day 2 coverage!
Also, check out the resumes for some of these boats! Spithill, Kostecki, and deRidder on one boat looking like dinghy sailors. It’s epic to watch.
GET PUMPED! AC World Series starts today in Plymouth. Finally catching up on all my sailing news today and getting back into the swing before the Volvo Ocean Race starts back up in October.
I don’t think this is what President Obama had in mind for his jobs plan, but hey, it’ll work! How about an incentive strucure / tax break to buy racing sailboats to re-invigorate the US yacht-building market and shipyard economy? Who’s with me? (@ the Maxi Worlds, via Sailing Anarchy)
This is the Course from Annapolis to Newport 2011 #A2N2011. Follow me aboard the Kalevala II on the official race-tracking site. We’ll have a GPS Transponder aboard so you can watch all our navigation mistakes play out in real time! :)
Pray for fair winds and following seas over the 470 miles. See you in Newport and the NYYC Annual Regatta.
