Five Times We Almost Nuked Ourselves

If that doesn’t seem scary enough, there are dozens more incidents like these on the U.S. side alone. We haven’t even touched on the Cuban Missile Crisis. The sad lesson is that we have less to fear from naked aggression than we do from incompetence and bad engineering.

Turn Off Your TV. Nobody Watches that Stuff Anyway

A great economist article on the professional political echo-chamber that I admit to being a part of (because it’s on in my office against my will all day).  Makes me sigh with relief to realize a large number of folks aren’t watching.  Makes me a little scared that people aren’t watching because they don’t care, however, and would prefer to watch American Idol… reason / context is important.
