This post isn’t strictly about responsive design but hopefully it’ll give you some insight into how you can optimise your JS to help support the goals of a responsive site.
Enjoyable read from an obviously capable group of folks trying to get the news the world. I also really love their tumblr theme.
A man with a dream, and now a full knowledge of the legal basis behind the PATRIOT Act has developed a strategy to get privacy-focused broadband to the masses. Potential for awesome. Lots of hurdles but I’m glad somebody’s helping fight these battles.
Bonus: Awesome advisory board for his company.
Realtime ocean currents as seen by NASA. Amazing video from a science and sailing perspective.

Kinda shocked that a guy from Microsoft is doing this jQuery demo (haven’t seen them participate too much in the community before), but nonetheless Damian Edwards provides an awesome intro to jQuery and JavaScript in general for users looking to really extend the language past your typical DOM manipulation and move into awesomeness. Definitely recommended viewing.
"I’ve never done such a tough offshore leg in my life. We ran out of food a day and a half ago so we haven’t eaten for a day and a half. It’s been pretty intense. Our hearts go out to the crews who have suffered damage. We know what that’s like and it’s even worse when it’s in a place like the Southern Ocean."

“When he’s not playing paintball in the basement of a Beirut strip mall, Exum is flying to Kabul to advise the US military or writing papers with phrases like “population-centric” in their titles.”
Paintball with Hezbollah, Vice Magazine
From this distance (well within the 15-foot “safety zone”), paintballs feel like bee stings. I raise my hands in pain and confusion, signaling to the referee that I’m leaving the game. But the bigger one—a tall, muscular farm boy from the deep south of Lebanon who tonight is going by the name Khodor—isn’t finished with me yet: He wraps his giant hands around my body and tries to throw me over his shoulder with the kind of deftness that only comes from practice. I’m quick enough to break free and flee, but my teammate Ben isn’t so lucky. Khodor and his partner move past me in perfect military formation, plunging deeper into our defenses. Soon they apprehend Ben, pushing him ahead of them, human shield-style.

Also, as I side note, I’ve apparently forgotten the possible maturity levels for fourth graders: “It’s just the suspense at the top the first time that freaks you out, that’s the only thing - it’s so… much… FUN!”
