The First Truly Honest Privacy Policy →
The data we collect is strictly anonymous, unless you’ve been kind enough to give us your name, email address, or other identifying information. And even if you have been that kind, we promise we won’t sell that information to anyone else, unless of course our impossibly obtuse privacy policy says otherwise and/or we change our minds tomorrow. Keep CALM? Go Mitigate Yourself.
“Avid” readers of this blog will know that this author is not a fan of congress legislating things that don’t require a slower moving, better funded federal body to implement.  The latest example of Congressional innanity is the CALM Act, or, for our hispanic advertisers, CALMA!  What is this serene sounding act you might say? Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act....

Air Force Blocks Sites Posting Wikileaks... →
“News media Web sites will be blocked if they post classified documents from the WikiLeaks Web site,” said Lt. Col. Brenda Campbell, a spokeswoman for the Air Force Space Command, a unit of which oversees Air Force cyber systems. “This is similar to how we’d block any other Web site that posted classified information.” …Guess I better remove that Bob Woodward book from my bookshelf. ...

Unpaid Leave for Hajj? →
This is an interesting story - Federal government (DOJ) sues a local Chicago Suburban school district for unpaid leave for Hajj for a teacher.  I understand that it’s part of Islam, but the written doctrine is “at least once in your life if you can afford it”.  Is there a reason it needs to be undertaken in the middle of the school year? Also, is there a reason this...

Richard Holbrooke: A Giant of Diplomacy 1941-2010 →
Truly a titan of the diplomatic world, Richard Holbrooke passed away this evening in Washington DC.  To say that this happened suddenly is an understatement.  I pray that the missions to resolve some of the largest, most complex problems of the world continue.

Living the Google Lifestyle (Mark Cuban) →
As I installed my Logitech Google TV box, I checked my e-mail — I mean Gmail — on my G2 Slide. Someone needed some info, so I pulled up the information from a file stored on Google Docs using my browser of choice, Chrome. Then it occurred to me. I’m surrounded by Google and for the most part, I like it. (via Cary)

20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web →
Ironically, this browser book does not work at my place of work.  (No HTML 5!) A nice overview of the web, though, for folks that want to find out exactly how all this stuff works.

Close the Washington Monument →
This one pretty much sums up the argument for me.  Hope you enjoy.  “Some of them call terrorism an “existential threat” against our nation. It’s not. Even the events of 9/11, as horrific as they were, didn’t make an existential dent in our nation. Automobile-related fatalities — at 42,000 per year, more deaths each month, on average, than 9/11 —...
